The B.A.F Telecaster Set is a set of Tele-style pickups with an unconventional character and specification. After many months of experimentation and testing, together with Bazok, we managed to create a perfectly balanced set that highlights the versatility of the Telecaster while adding a bit more depth.
The bridge pickup is inspired by pickups from the 1950s. It is wound with “historically correct” 43 AWG Heavy Formvar wire, used in a significantly greater amount than in a classic pickup of this type. It is characterized by a warm, powerful tone with a clearly emphasized midrange and a low end that reveals a sense of depth.
The high frequencies, strictly classic in character, are present but darker, which makes this pickup work very well even in slightly more overdriven musical genres.
Its sound can be described as a “Tele on steroids,” combining the traits of a classic 1950s Tele pickup with those of the famous P-90.
The neck pickup is, in terms of construction, its complete opposite.
A fully packed coil, wound with non-standard 42 AWG wire, delivers a subtle, glassy tone that sits somewhere between a classic Tele neck pickup and the single-coils known from Strat-style designs. Thanks to this approach, we achieved exceptional clarity in the low and mid frequencies while retaining the famous “bell tone” and, above all, perfectly balancing both positions.
One thing is certain – this is a truly characterful set with above-average versatility.
