WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A HUMBUCKER AND A SINGLE COIL PICKUP?
A humbucker pickup is build of two coils usually wound in the same Direktion. The electrical path to ground travels in opposing directions in each coil and the magnetic polarity is reversed. The idea of humbucker pickup designe is to cancel out 50/60-cycle hum that we know from the single coil construcions.
The effect of that process is more fatter, richer sound of humbucker type pickup.
